Budapest Zoo and Botanical Garden

Europe

Just called the zoo by the locals, the Budapest Zoo and Botanical Garden is among the most thronged attractions in this European nation. And this is not a coincidence. The best part of the Budapest Zoo is that it not only displays the animals from Hungary and other nations, but it is also the venue of several entertaining as well as educational events. Acting as the healthy hub for over 700 species of fauna right from the Arctic to the African savannah as well as 2000 species of flora, this zoo is certainly among the best as well as the oldest zoos on the planet, which provides relaxing entertainment not only the individuals, but also for the families.

I have to agree that the Budapest zoo is certainly a place where everyone finds something interesting irrespective of the age. All animals live in such surroundings as if those are their original habitats. You will also come across a variety of landscapes such as tiny forest, small sandy dessert, lakes, rock caves, and seaside all of which provide the actual homes for the animals as well as plants of the zoo. On top of that the vast green patches, notable plants as well as flowers, and leafy groves offer a refreshing ambiance although being located in a hustling town.

Among all the attractions, the most new one is the Elephant House in terms of renovation. Nestled at the right of the entrance, this building on its top supports a small tower from where you can enjoy a wonderful panorama of the City Park. With its superb Zsolnay ceramic tiles on the oriental walls, this house has been honored with the European Heritage Award just for a precise renovation of a notable instance of the Hungarian Art Nouveau. Just to the entrance’s left, explore the Palm Tree House & Aquarium that is adorned with the orchids, birds, lush tropical plants, exotic fishes, and reptiles.

If you coming here with your kids that is actually worth, take them to the animal petting area, the most enticing area of the Budapest zoo. There are sheep and goats here, which can be caressed and fed by your little ones without any fear! The other highlights in the zoo are the remodeled birdhouse, having a meal in the cave restaurant perched in the Small Rock, spotting the indigenous Hungarian farm animals in the illusionary farm edifices (bold-necked hens, swallow bellied woolly mudi dogs, hucul horse, cattle, and cikta sheep), the butterfly garden packed with colorful butterflies, and the Majomvilág (World of Apes) where lemurs, gorillas, and mangabeys live. There is also a playground where your kids can slide, climb, and crawl.

Try to come here in summer when a lot of additional competitions as well as programs are scheduled for keeping you and your little ones kids entertained. In July and August, there are Musical Evenings here featuring jazz and extra light music concerts. Most of the concerts are scheduled for Wednesdays and mostly begin at 20.30. However, as the entrance gate is open to public at 19.00, you can freely take a stroll in the gardens as well as explore the Palm House and the Aquarium.
