    A gold rush town named as Queenstown is located in Australia’s New Zealand. It has a population of just 9,000 people and is a popular destination among tourists worldwide. It is an international resort town situated in Otago, a place in South Island. This place is bounding an inlet which is called as Queenstown Bay and constructed on Lake Wakatipu.

    This Queenstown-Lakes District covers an area of about 8,704.97 square kilometer that is of about 3,361.01 square miles leaving the inland lakes named as Lake Hawea, Lake Wakatipu and Lake Wanaka. This place is well-known today for tourism and offers adventure to its visitors along with skiing activity. It is known as a gold rush town as earlier gold was discovered from this place in the year 1862 and by then gold has become a source of income for Queenstown. The first settlers in this area were the Europeans named William Gilbert Rees and Nicholas Von Tunzelman.

So you can enjoy the festivals during winter in this place as not only its festivals but this season makes this place a fabulous place especially among the skiers and snowboarders. Though this place has alpine climate with blue skies and snow capped mountains during winter you can experience it to your best. During summer the temperature reaches up to 30°C.

    This place is not only world popular but also known as the ‘Adventure Capital of the World’. This place has also served its beauty in movies like Lord of the Rings film trilogy, X-Men Origins: Wolverine and many others.

So you have two options for traveling and that is by air and road. By road you can travel from State Highway 6 that will lead you towards Queenstown.
