Also known as Haven of Peace and biggest city of Tanzania, it is also one of the prosperous economic centers of the country. The present name was bestowed by Zanzibar’s Sultan Seyyid Majid during 1866. The city faced decline after Majid’s but returned to its glory soon after a station of German East Africa Company came into existence in the city.
